Report on Diversity, commissioned by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research,
What is diversity? The term refers to the need within a society to take into consideration differences in national origin, culture, religion, language, gender, sexual orientation, physical appearance, disablement, qualifications, etc. More specifically, the term 'diversity' designates two major collective concerns: on the one hand, that of those actors who take the offensive arguing the case for the recognition of their specificity, or even its valorization: on the other, that of the individuals subjected to injustice, racism and discrimination as a result of their real or presumed belonging to a specific group.
How can respect for difference be reconciled with the universal values of the rule of law and reason? Does the university and research not have an important role to play in this respect?
The author and his team of researchers and people in charge of organizations took evidence from several dozen witnesses, actors and experts. As a result, the report makes forty-seven recommendations.
