    Metamorphosis of the Masculine
How do young men keep a love relationship with their partner going? What is the role of pornography in their representations? How do fathers feel about paternity? How do the fathers in separated couples speak to their children on the telephone? Men have changed. Today they are experiencing a change in their relationship to masculinity; some are in favour of this change, others are violently opposed to it. The situation has now reached a point at which we can speak of a socio-cultural fracture in the representations which men have of themselves. Why do some resort to fresh outbreaks of violence, withdrawing into a defensive form of masculinity? How do other men view these changes? These questions can only be answered by comparing the first generation of men born of feminism with the second, post-feminist, generation and by choosing specific areas of life, by varying the approaches and the angles, ranging from their origins, questions of transmission, of the body, of beauty, clothes, feelings, sexuality, paternity, communication, etc. This book is the fruit of research carried out over a period of twenty-five years; the reader is invited to evaluate the extent of the changes in what it means to be a male, from the point of view of what this entails in the relationship of the self to others, to women and to children, to production and reproduction
    and to violence or pornography.
