    Al Qaïda : Voices from Prison
    On the basis of interviews freely agreed to with Islamists and members of Al Qaïda in prison, this book sheds light on the imaginary world of the terrorists. There are considerable differences between these people who may come from Muslim countries, be of North African immigrant origin, Pakistanis or even from the Horn of Africa, excluded or of "middle class" origin but they all share certain features. They are ready to die for Allah; they hate an imagined world of the West; their rediscovery of Islam is frequently mythical; they feel as if they live in a world in danger of death. In a context of humiliation by proxy they denounce the arrogance of the Western world, but also express their helplessness in the face of a world which eludes them. This study differentiates several types of Islamist terrorists, particularly on the basis of their construction of the sacred and the profane
